glitch effects
01/ VERSE
Glitch effects show a picture failing in a specific, repeatable way. Tape wanders off its own line. Pixels queue up and forget their place. The error was never random, only precise about which rule it was breaking. Something legible survives the damage. That is the whole point of doing it on purpose.
02/ SPEC
Glitch effects reproduce a specific failure mode of a real signal or medium: VHS tape wear, dropped scanlines, chroma bleed, or pixels sorted along a row or column. kott's glitch family stacks these as independent controls (tracking, tearing, chroma bleed, sort length and threshold) rather than one generic distortion slider, so a particular era or artifact can be dialed in on purpose. Reach for this category for retro video, analog horror, or data corruption looks where the damage needs to read as authentic rather than as a filter. Most controls push toward noise past their midpoint, so small moves read as intentional and large ones read as broken.
