aura effect

SourceEffect01/ ORIGIN
Aerial perspective is the observation that intervening air scatters light, so distant objects lose contrast, soften and shift toward the colour of the sky. Leonardo described it explicitly and used it deliberately, and it remains the most reliable depth cue available to a flat surface, more so than linear perspective, because it works even when there is nothing with straight edges to converge. Any haze applied to a picture is borrowing that.

HAZE sweep

03/ SPEC
This effect blends a softened, colour-shifted copy of the image over itself, so the subject acquires a surrounding wash drawn from its own hues rather than a uniform tint. HAZE runs from 0 to 1 with a default of 0.5 and controls how much of that softened copy is mixed in, which sets the overall atmospheric strength. WASH from 0 to 1 scales how far colour shifts within the haze. In kott it renders in natural colour, without which the wash would be a grey veil rather than atmosphere.
04/ FAQ
- What is an aura effect?
- It blends a softened, colour-shifted copy of an image over itself, so the subject gains a surrounding wash drawn from its own colours rather than a flat tint.
- What is aerial perspective?
- The observation that intervening air scatters light, so distant objects lose contrast and shift toward the sky's colour. Leonardo described it and used it deliberately as a depth cue.
- How do I keep the subject from disappearing?
- Keep HAZE near or below the 0.5 default. Above about 0.7 the wash overtakes local contrast and the subject reads as being behind weather rather than surrounded by air.
