Film effects work on tone, grain and colour response rather than on structure, imitating the way emulsion handled light: grain, bloom, halation, split toning, bleach bypass, vignetting, posterised separations and infrared style channel swaps. kott's film family is where LEVELS, grain density and tonal curve controls live, and most of it composes cleanly under the dither and halftone families if you want chemistry and a printed screen at once. Reach for this category to warm a flat digital capture, to age an image without breaking its structure, or to flatten tone deliberately for a graphic result. It rewards sources with real highlight and shadow detail to work against.
