01/ VERSE
Line effects redraw a photograph as a single travelling stroke. No shading. No apology. Only the line, deciding where the edge was. The picture holds together anyway, which nobody expected of a single mark walked back and forth this many times.
02/ SPEC
Line effects reduce an image to strokes, hatching or character glyphs instead of continuous tone, tracing edges and contours the way an engraving or a plotter would. kott's line family runs from clean outline renders to dense cross hatch and character based looks like ASCII, each control tuned for stroke weight, density or cell size rather than colour. Reach for this category for posters, technical illustration, engraving pastiche, or any brief that wants a drawn look rather than a photographic one. High contrast subjects with a clear silhouette hold up best; flat, low contrast source images tend to lose their shape once reduced to line.
